Here's a definition of career you might not be familiar with.
You have a career when you have work that fulfills you, moves you forward in your life goals, provides the security and luxuries you need and want, and leaves you time for fun, friends, love and family life.
Anything else is just working to live, or living to work. In fact, even the English dictionary agrees with me on this. Look it up if you don't believe me – a career means your progress through life. Nothing there about fighting for promotion or a job title or building an empire. It's about personal advancement and your vision of success, pure and simple.
Promotions and job titles and empire building are all part of it; of course they are. And there is so much more. Coaching with Starfish will help you make sense of your career, on your terms, so that you are in the driving seat. You're not a wage slave or a job title. You are a unique human being with a contribution to make – to yourself and to your world. And that starts with working out how to find and secure the career and life you deserve.
It might mean:
Stretching yourself to get the job of your dreams, and having the confidence to get out of your comfort zone and test your own mettle.
Putting your challenging and demanding job fully in the context of all the other things that are important to you, like your personal relationships or your health.
Making a huge, brave, life overturning decision to change the course of your career.
Finding your passion in life and working out how to make that pay.
Making peace with the fact that your career isn't just (or even) the job you get paid for.
What it will, without a doubt, mean is that your life will never be the same again. And if you've been settling for working to live or living to work – that's going to feel pretty great. So great you're going to want to re-write the dictionary with your definition. And why on earth not? When you've got the great career, pretty much anything is possible.
